Looks like I need to do a bearing job on my '79 Special. I have a XJ 1100 parts bike with 17k on the engine. Does anyone know if it is possible to put this engine on my XS?

Yep, it'll work if you use the ignition pick up parts and the alternator and rotor from the XS engine.

Actually I understand you can even use the alternator parts as well, but that requires some wiring work, but then you get a hotter charging system too. I'm sure if you have all the parts for the ignition with the parts bike you could even port that stuff over, but I'm not sure it would be worth it, then again think about never having to do pickup wire fixes again.

Nice! Thanks for the input guys. Kinda of a shame to sacrifice the XJ motor. I'll keep an eye on here and ebay for a used motor, just in case.
