    Does anyone have a contact for metric stainless steel socket head cap screws? A lot of mine are looking pretty skanky, and I'd like to replace them, as long as they aren't in areas that need high strength screws. (I.E. Carbs, cam cover, grab rail, etc.) Also, does anyone have any recommendations for frame painting, powdercoating, etc.? I've heard powdercoating is expensive. Also, I'd like to clean up the welds on the frame at the same time. It appears that Yamaha has learned a lot between the XS and the current deltabox frames. Option 1: Have frame welds built up with additional welds and then grind, or 2: Fill existing welds with fiberglass filler and sand. Any thoughts or opinions would be nice. Winter is coming, and I've been imagining a dark grey metallic on the frame... Thanks!

    I've never dealt with these people myself, but I have heard that other's have with good results. I have a lot of industry near me and was able to source mine locally.

      You might even want to check out your local real hardware store. Mine carries a wide assortment of hex head bolts in metric and stainless!!!

        Most hardware stores that stock a decent fastner supply carry both Metric and SAE Allen capscrews in the standard black..... but only the SAE in stainless.

          I'm with you on the quality of the frame welds. Someday I plan to smooth mine out too. I've considered JB Weld as a filler and sanding smooth.

            the estimate i got for a clear coat was along the lines of $400. powder coating cost me just above $200.

              ebay usually has sets of screws for bid. (chrome? stainless?)

                I saw a set on ebay the other day for real cheap might be worth looking...

                  I've bought from the guy that has the selling the stainless screws on eBay right now. He's a good guy to do bisness with and he's selling them cheaper than the hardware store. I suspect he buys them very large quantities.

                    Looks like you've got plenty of insight here Tom. I'm very happy with stainless. You can't put the old bolts back in after chroming stuff. If I every rip mine down again, I think powdercoat is the best way to go. If your gonna go to that much trouble, you might as well get it done right. Careful with the stainless. They will munch those aluminum threads if you crank on them.

                        stainless cap screws

                        hey there!!
                        i replaced alot of the cap screws on my bike with stainless srews i got from http://www.fastenal.com/ they have a store close to me and there prices were not to bad.
                        hope this helps!

                          you might not want to here this but the honda's have a lot of chrome bolts on them ,they are the same thread and some times same lenght.i have used them on my bike(like the carburators and side coves)

                            I don't mind hearing about alternative parts ideas from any source, especially Honda. I'm actually a "non-practicing" but factory trained Acura mechanic. I had the opportunity to see an oval piston NR750 once. I once said that only God or Honda could build such a thing. (No accusations of blasphemy please, I am in the church choir...)
