Nice example! All there, and it doesn't look to being left under a tree/shed/etc for too long...

And having that stock exhaust is a bonus.

It sure does! I had early problems with my octy, or so I thought, turns out my gas lines running from my petcocks were old and kinked like a plugged garden hose, did some shifting of the lines and it runs perfect. Its a 1980, I bought it with 22,000 on it, and I couldn't be happier with it.

From reading the forums, I am definately glad to have a good set of the stock exhaust. It seems like those are hard to come by!

Thanks for the compliments and for looking

They are double walled, they last, hard to find, 4 into 2, they are stock, a good set can bring as much cash as the bike itself. My buddy got a set of Macs and they were rusted in one year. Single walled pipes will blue the first time you run the bike. The stock pipes on my old 79 special were 30yrs old and spotless.

Yamaha put a lot of time and money into the exhaust and that is what these bikes are meant to run with. Change to something else it takes a lot of work to get it to run well again, and even then you will still probably lose something in your power band.

A NOS still in box exhaust set just went for about 1600 on ebay a couple weeks ago.

Here's a thought. I bought a doner bike that used to belong to the owner of a Yamaha dealership.
The bottoms of both mufflers were rusted out, the left worse than the right.
                    Why, I asked myself?
                    Parking with the side stand?
What I figured is that he used it for demos, around a few blocks, up the freeway and back, and seldom got the pipes hot enough to boil the moisture out of the shell. So I do not use mine for short trips. Got a Kymco Sniper 50 for those.
So check the drain hole in the bottom of the stock muffler, and make sure it is open. CZ
