Running
I find that most won't blink unless there is at least 2500 rpm, except when the battery is new and fully charged, and then only slowly blink. You can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life...

Personal Experience/Eyewitness...
I personally saw a member's turn signals flash when the engine wasn't running. The bike had sat overnight and had yet to be started for that day's run to get beef jerky and tube socks.
This was less than a week ago...
(evidence that the bike not only was wired correctly but according to the owner's reports/posts he had gone through/cleaned just about every connection along with replacing some of the OEM wiring with "more suitable" gauge/thickness.)Last edited by Larrym; 09-06-2010, 01:30 PM.

both of mine will/would blink with the engine not running. Just turn the key to On and hit the turn signal switch. Before you go for the flasher unit, start the bike and get the engine up to speed and see if they work.
If they work then, it is a matter of clean connections most likely and not the flasher unit. None the less, I'll PM you details on the flasher.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Pull the connectors for the left hand control down by the gas tank. Then jumper across the wires to "simulate" the switch being thrown. this will tell you if the switch is the issue. If all else is good, you will get flashing lights.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Just wanted to throw it out there, but do they actually require turn signals wherever you are?
I know they do in Ohio for bikes newer than 1968, but from what I understand not in less than half of the US... cops aren't always right...82J · 81SH · 79SF Fire Damage · 78E · 79F Parts Bike · 04 Buell Blast

I believe all the 1156 and 1157 bulbs are 27w. The difference is 1156 is single element and the 1157 is dual element, 27w/9w. Since these bikes dont have running lights you cannot use the 1157 unless you modify the your blinkers.Four wheels move your body, two wheels move your soul.

The standard models have running lights built into the tirn signals. The early ones do anyway. The wiring is there on the special models, it is an unused connection in the headlight bucket. That is probably what was used on your fairing Bug.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
