I have looked all over and con not find a seat. I have a 79 11 special, I just got it a week ago and i dont like the seat that came on it. Where can i go to get a factory seat or is there a place that i can get a custom seat? All the places i have found do not make seats for bikes older than 82-84.

You need to try and find a seat pan for the '79 Special. That is the ONLY YEAR that will bolt up. once you have a pan, any good upholstery shop should be able to put new foam and a cover on it for you.Ray Matteis

I am assuming he has the "king/queen" seat that Yamaha Dealers sold back then. It has a LARGE backrest built in for the queen.... You know, the OLD choppers with the high back seats. They will be harder to modify, as the pan/backrest would have to be cut and re-fashioned to a "normal" seat.Ray Matteis

... offer new stock pattern covers for just about all the vintage Jap bikes, and you can even get non-stock colors if black is boring The main trick is having a good seat pan and foam, as those aren't available new anymore...
