  • Replacing Front Flashers, Need Headlight Bolt

    Hi All,

I'm replacing my front flashers but I'm first trying to figure out how on Earth to take them off, but once they do come off, is there some kind of bolt or something that would need to go in place there? Does anyone have any pictures or something that I can see? Thanks in advance all.

They connect inside the headlight bucket.Take the 2 Phillips head screws that attach the headlight assembly to the bucket and remove the outer ring.Inside you will find how they are connected-on mine by a nut and washer.Disconnect the wire and undo the nut and washer and the flasher should come off.Hold the ground wire as you remove the nut and washer so it doesn't spin and break.

Once the signals are off what do you want to do with them?I replaced mine several years ago because they stick out too much for my liking and got mini signals that i mounted elsewhere on the bucket.I used a bolt and nut to hold the bucket to the ears.

Like Oldyam stated, the turn signal stalks have a "bolt" stem that goes through the headlight brackets or ears and through the side of the headlight bucket. Once inside the bucket, a large washer goes on followed by the ground strap ring and then a lock washer and nut.

Pull the headlight bulb and trim ring off and disocnnect the connector, then remove the two nuts on the two turn signal stalks along with the ground wire and pull the power wire form the push in connector inside the headlight bucket. The turn signals will then pull out, but you wil have your headlight without support to the brackets. You could probably buy a carriage bolt or the like to put in the turn signals place or it may need a large washer on it. But you will need something to connect the headlight back to the brackets.

Got it, thanks guys. I'm not sure what I want to replace the headlights with just yet so I've been trying to find some "inspiration" photos to give me some ideas.
