  • Petcock Gasket

I'm needing to get a pair of petcock to tank gaskets. Does it matter from a standard or special? Bought a different tank and now plan to transfer the petcocks over. Is that the only gaskets i need to replace?

    Thanks in advance

I've only owned the specials, they use one solid O-ring shaped into an oval. I believe the standard petcocks may use the ones shown in that ebay ad.

You may want to completely rebuild the petcocks while your at it, especially for the Special style. The six part kit (three for each side) is available from Georgefix on ebay and one of them is the seal your looking for. On the standard petcocks it seems the new vac diaphrams have a valve that is JUST smaller than the stock one and do not seal really well.

In fact, here is the kit for Standards.

And here is the special kits. I forgot it includes the diaphram to rebuild the Octopus valve.

Sorry, are you putting a special tank on or a standard or vise-a versa? If you are changing from one to another you should use the petcock and gasket for that tank style. Both have diff. spec. for seal/screen/ ect. All will feed the carb's if set up right.

If the old "O" ring is in good condition, you can re-use it. The Standard and Special use DIFFERENT petcocks! The bolt spacing is 10mm less on the Special, so no, the gasket will NOT interchange.
As stated, use georgefix on ebay for rebuild parts. He is very good about getting you the correct rebuild kits for carbs, petcocks, and brakes. All work except for the Standard diaphragm as previously stated.
