I highly recommend finding Georgefix on ebay for your carb kits. Just find one of his carb kits and ask him a question on it. Tell him what year and model XS1100 you have, and he will email you back a link to the carb kits for that specific bike. He is extremely easy to deal with and very fair, also knows ALOT about these bikes which makes all the difference.
I have bought two sets from him so far and both have worked out beautifully for me!! For the 81 Special, you will get new pilot jets, main jets, float needle valves, float needle seats, bowl gaskets, new idle mixture screws with new springs, washer, and rubber seals, and replacement metal disc to cover the mix screws after tuning if you so choose to put those on (I never have).Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
