The idle speed adjustment screw. On mine, it hangs down in front of the carbs, and on some, it's on the other side of the carbs.

Mine has never had this screw showing like this. It was a pain getting the tank off just to adjust idle.
I'll see what went wrong, fell off, etc., and try to replace one.

I believe it's one of those "old style" vs "new style" carbs things. The picture I posted is how all the "new style" carbs look. The older style has the screw on the rear of the carbs, IIRC. Either way, you should be able to use a long flat-bladed screwdriver to spin the adjustment screw with the tank on the bike.

+1 the "old" style carbs have the idle adjust screw on the rear of the carbs, between the airbox and carbs, it also sticks up instead of down. It can be a real pain to reach, use a long flat screw driver as mentioned.

Even using a long flat screwdriver its sometimes hard to turn once you get all the fuel lines and the fuel filters in there to block it.
