    Best Exhaust Alternative?

I'm going to need a new exhaust system soon, and was wondering about the collective wisdom on which way to go. Believe it or not, I am still on y original stock exhaust (120K miles & 31 years)

All I am finding are MAC systems, I remember these being the cheapest options about 10 years ago, is this it if I want new?

Should I go 4-1 or keep it 4-2?

They look great, but how much do they cost?

I am sending him a message (translated into German via Google) to ask those very questions. I'll let you know when I hear back.

All I know is that a good exhaust system is going to be expensive (over $300-$400), and if these are set exactly the same as the OEM pipes, it's worth every penny to get the original look, as well as the tuning correct.

I wonder if you need a remote oil filter with these? If sure looks like you'd have to pull the exhaust to change it if you didn't go remote.

                      Intrigueing design though...

The difference is whether you want a "good" exhaust, or a "perfect" one. When doing a restoration, you want something that is absolutely flawless, with no scratches, dents or even a HINT of rust. IMO, it's important that it look exactly like the originals too, or it's not a true "restoration". I would even be concerned that the replacement exhaust wouldn't have the original Yamaha part number stamped into it. But that's just the purist in me.
