  • Quick Wiring question - Project Nearly Complete

    Hey guys:

Finally after a year of going through these basket cases I think I may have a runner. More on that later this week as I just dropped in the motor last night ....

I've got a question about a dark green lead that piggybacks off the cable that runs from the starter solenoid to the starter about 3" long and with a female small round pin type connector. I don't seem to have a matching lead on a component or the wiring harness. Is this just an auxiliary or some sort?

Huh? From the starter solenoid to the starter is, like, 18" or so. If you mean it's a green lead running TO the starter, then it's the oil sender lead.

I don't have that green wire on either end of that lead. OFC, my solenoid is round too...

I have two of the 79 specials. Two have become ALMOST one. I looked at the other one and I have the same green wire but I've disassembled that one down past the point of knowing if it connected to anything or not ....

Bug, you dont have that lead because you've got an 81, 3 ohm coils, no ballast.

              res1uqtp:

              IF you have a 78/79:

That lead is the ballast bypass, goes to the TCI, RED/YELLOW lead.
