  • Thanks everyone!!!

Hey everyone....little update. Just completed some little odds and ends things on 'Sunshine, and decided to take it to work this morning.....until this morning, the bike had only seen 10-15 mile trips while chasing demons and eliminating gremlins.....

This mornings trip (65 miles) allowed me to see some other areas of attention...BUT i am VERY happy to say..... the beast runs well, plenty of get up and go..even from 80 mph.... the longer it ran, the better it responded....had some clutch slipping yesterday...adjusted it...now no high speed/rev slipping....good throttle response (color/carb tune has been done) will check plugs when i get home to see condition....

Speedo acting a bit funny....odometer works(i think accurate), but speed slow to react...both up and down, and makes a bit of noise. guessing it needs some lube...i have spares to swap out...will see. tach wants to jump all over every once in a while.....not sure whats going on there.... will need new shoes (tires) as the front is iffy...rear is getting thin in the skin...but no wet roads right now....

I knew the plastic front fender would have to go byebye....no fork brace (yet..sitting on my workbench, but fork seals need replaced, so not installing yet until ready to put back on bike)...just went down to parking lot..and so far no tell signs of leaks ANYWHERE ......

So again, im happy. And thanks to everyone!!! You WILL be hearing from me soon on the forkseals, tires im sure....being i dont have ANY tire tools..and less time...i may drop the beast off and have them mount/balance them for me!!!

Way to go, Tom. Aren't the fruits of your labor sweet ? That's the feeling you only get from putting one back into service.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Congratulations! As to the 'jumping', he must like it; I mean, look at his avatar... yeah, try to tear your eyes away.

And if you're going to farm out the tire mounting, it may pay to remove the wheels and just take those in. It's usually a lot cheaper if they're off the bike. Just check tire direction before you leave the shop...

Just call the shop and ask first. the one I went to was the same price either way. Then, you can look like this:

I just had a new rear mounted yesterday. Mounting was $60 if they had to remove and replace the wheel or $22.40 if you brought the rim in. Of course, 1) they also charged the exact same for M/B if you brought your own tire or bought it there, 2) they didn't have my tire in stock, and 3) they wanted 50% for the tire than I could get it online... Needless to say, I bought my own tire and I let the tire tech deal with those tire locks!

                  Congrats

Glad to here of your sucess!
Despite all of the warnings I decided, check that, I was determined to mount my own tires.
Pinched a few tubes but sucessfully mounted tires on both my bikes and wouldn't have it any other way.
But then I am stuborn as a mule.
Good luck what ever you choose.
