Do I have to use 5K plug caps or can I run no resistance caps? and if i can change to the no resistance caps would it make a difference?

You can use any resistance cap or non resistance type. The resistance type is for radio supression, it doesn't affect the operation of the coils. IMHO, less resistance is better.2H7 (79) owned since '89

Just in case...
I've read that the radio interference from no-resistance caps can interfere with computer controlled ignition systems. If you find you've got problems, you can use spark plugs with resistors, and it's the same as having a resistor in your caps. I don't think that this is actually an issue for our vintage bikes... I think it's more of a concern with TCIs or fuel injector systems that use a real computer. May give you a nice edge when someone pulls up beside you his 200HP fuel injected supersport

I run the non-resistor caps with the iridium plugs (only available w/resistor). I got them at a local autoparts store that handles NGK plugs. They had to order them special, but they got 'em. Mikes XS also lists the non-resistor caps, but I don't know if they're in stock.I've been looking for non-resistor caps to use with the Iridium plugs that I've bought that have resistors.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Well, I went onto NGK's site and decided that I want Cap Part# LB05FP for cylinders 1 and 4, and Part# XB05FP for cylinders 2 and 3. The LB's are $1.90 each and the XB's are $4.40 each. Unfortunately, they want $15 to ship $10 worth of parts!
I know I can get the LB's locally for under $2.00 but no one has the XB's on hand. I searched on ebay and found a guy that has 4 XB's, starting bid is 0.99 and his shipping is $15 ...WTF 
Seems like flat rate shiping would be chaper than that. I was thinking about budding on them anyways to see if I can get them for $16, which would be a fair price. Anyone have a chaper supplier for these caps? I figured I would check NGK first but it looks like I might be able to get them cheaper anywhere else at this rate.

Mikes XS has the 90 degree for $3.50 ea. You really don't need the long 45 degree caps - the 90's will work on all cylinders assuming you have enough high tension wire to reach.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

Well for now I stuck with the old caps (which were pretty much new anyways) and they are 5K ohms so I wont interfere with your radio for the time being!

Sunday, I saw a guy on a dual sport riding through town with his cell phone in his left hand yaking away, and his right hand was a lit cigarette. At least he was ATGATT, with his baseball cap turned backward and his khaki shorts and sandals, and of course the ultimate protection of a cutoff T-shirt.
