  • Tunning Issue

I been having a little issue tunning my carbs lately. Just can get them just right. After reading a couple of posts I am wondering if these holes at the end of my mufflers are suppose to be there. Looking at them I have a odd feeling that the PO drilled them. If he did then I am not getting enough back pressure and that might be part of the tunning issue.

Thanks again all for your help.

Those are not factory holes. It is actually not at all uncommon for this to be done to open up the exhaust alittle and give the bike a bit of growl.

Thunderstruck had the same size holes and twice as many per side. Never caused me any real tuning problem except I always had a bit of a pop on decel no matter how I tuned it. HTH

Those holes shouldn't cause you any problems setting the carbs. Popping can also be caused but an exhaust leak somewhere. If not your a bit too lean . Make sure your idle screws are set about the same then try turning your idle screws out 1/4 to 1/2 turn and see if that helps.

Check your carb boots for leaks . Make sure your vacuum ports on your carb boots have a tight plug on them ,that is often over looked but easily fixed.
