    When the rear brake pedal and the rear brake master cylinder operate one of the two front brake calipers (as well as the rear brake caliper), and the other front brake caliper is operated by the front brake lever and the other caliper. Some XS11s use this system.

        looks like cywelchjr and dpotter58 are correct, i have an 81. i don't have a title, so i chose poorly on the date. thanks for correcting me. now when i order parts, i hope i get the correct ones!
