    Castrol synthetic

I changed my rear brake fluid to that type.
After about 20 miles the rear caliper locked up. Rotor was real hot. Only after it cooled down for about 10 minutes did the caliper release thus allowing me to head back home without using the rear brake. I had to rebuild the caliper and this time put in dot 3 or 4. After checking with a friend at a Yamaha dealer, he said they don't put synthetic on older aluminum calipers as they have had that problem come up with a lot of them.
However, I have read where some of the folks here have used it in their bikes with no problem.

Even the autozone DOT3 brake fluid is synthetic. I don't think it has anything to do with that...

Likely wasn't the issue as Bug stated. Onle TRUE syn. is DOT5. Would not use in any old systems of any sort as it is not kind to the older rubber pieces composition.
