  • Nail Polish Remover in the Gas Tank?

Had a Harley mechanic recommend putting nail polish remover in the fuel. Said that it would remove laquer buildup in the carbs.

Any thoughts? Anyone ever done this?

It has been recommended to add something like 5oz of acetone to a full tank of fuel as a cleaner/power booster. I've tried it, but didn't notice any benefit myself.

I run acetone in my gas all the time - 1 oz to five gallons. I wouldn't use nail polish remover - too expensive. You can get a whole quart of acetone at the hardware store for around $7. Here's a link to the science.
