I started thinking maybe I should put in fuel filters instead of worrying if the rust suddenly comes back one day inside the tank. Do you have any particular fuel filter recommedations?

Several options, I chose to use the small tapered conical ones as they are small and just require cutting each fuel line where the most open area is and inserting. I also have longer fuel lines and cris-cross them, left petcock to right side, right petcock to left side. The extra length also allows me tho sync carbs using fuel tank turned around placed where seat goes and blocking it up a bit so as not to crimp lines when syncing carbs. Also not using the vacuum lines to open petcocks I rotate petcock valves to prime. Easy to do all this on a standard since there is no octy.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

I use metal NAPA FIL 3027 inline filters. I had the plastic conical ones, but heat from the motor kept deforming them. They still worked and didn't leak, but I just didn't like the way it looked. The napa filters last a long time, and they flow plenty of gas - $3.99 ea. Here's what the FIL 3027's look like -
