  • Pickup coil interchange.

I find em for '79's, I find em for '81's. Nuthin specific to a '80. All the same? Nice set on Ebay for a '81 and a '79. Need some help here, I literally am running on borrowed pickup coils. Bike Bandit wasn't much help on part numbers.
    When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

If you have a XS1100G, special or not, it looks like it is unique. but it could be compatible, just with very different part numbers.
You can double check at http://www.benefiscal.co.uk/ to be sure.

edit : the main part of the part number is the same, just the prefix is different. picture looks the same as well. might work? All I know is my XJ is quite different from that yet.

-1978 XS750SF - brought back from the dead with carb
    triple clean and boots
-1982 XJ1100J - brought back from the dead by
replacing motor after throwing #4 rod
-1985 XJ750XN - shim job, oil change, ride. not bad for
    $500 including new rear tire.

The pickups (little black boxes) themselves can be swapped from any year. If you want to replace the entire pickup coil assembly you'll be good with a 78, 79, or 80. You could probably get an 81 to work too, but the slot for the rotor is a little different.
I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
