I wondered where you folks were getting the dates from. I found a sticker on the fork, under the dirt, behind the fairing, as I was reassembling my bike today. It says 9/77.Marty in NW PA
Gone - 1978E - one of the first XS11 made
Gone - 2007A FJR - the only year of Dark Red Metallic

Yup..... should be a sticker or plate on the left side of the head tube with the serial and date. The serial should also be stamped on the right side of the engine block facing upwards.1978 XS1100E "Flashback"

We have 4 V Stars that are regulars at work. Two 650s and two 1600s. I got to looking and the 1600s are 7 numbers apart in the serial numbers. Looks like they've stuck together from the manufacturer. I thought it was cool, the owners couldn't have cared less.Pat Kelly

Yeah... id like to know my mfg date too... the bike I mean...
I know the 1st registration was made on the 21. july 1978, but it may also be the first reg. in that country.
The only dates I found was 1998 schrached into the middle drive housing (I guess sbd was rebuilding it... or trying to), and october 1991.... from the tires. Yep, Ive got 12 year old tires on...
Any other ideas... I think I saw a sticker on the forks... not sure.
LPIf it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

Registration Date
Strom, there should be a sticker on the left side of the frame right at the steering head. It is placed between the upper and lower triple clamps. It should have the date of manufacture, serial number, load carrying capacity etc.
On all that I have seen it is a reflective type of tape installed by Yamaha as the bike was originally assembled.
The date should be two numbers EG. 11/78 or 5/79.etc.
