      Serial Numbers

My Ratbyk is; 2H7100321. That would make it the 220th one off the line. Does anyone still have an XS running with a lower number?

Wouldn't it have to be 2H7000321 to be the 220th since they started with 2H7000101?

        You listed yours as 2H7100321.
Mine is 2H7003212 which is a lower number than yours and should make mine number 3111.

Anyone know how many were produced in 78?

Mine is 2H7000898, making it the 798th one made. I have seen as high as 2H7019xxx. Guy in the next county has that one for sale.

              Serial Numbers

              Hi Pat!
I just went out to the shop and recheck the serial number that I originally quoted.
It is still the same; 2H7100321, manufactured Nov, 1977. I still think mine was the 220th of the original production run.
Pat, yours would have been one of the original production ones as well, having been assembled in 11/77.

                Serial Numbers

Jeff, what was the month and year of manufacture of your bike? Mine was 11/77. I just went out and rechecked the serial numbers on both the engine and frame. (up on the steering head post) They match and it says: 2H7100321.I don't know what happened to the extra zero.
If I could figure out how to post a digital photo on this site I would shoot pics of both the engine and chassis numbers. This will have to wait until next week as I'm off in the morning working my way down to Denny Zanders XS11 bash.

I'll check the manufacture date tomorrow.... but I think it was Nov 77 as well. I'd check right now but my bike is at the shop gettin a new rear tire.

I just thought the (1) immdiately following the 2H7 was a little odd.

                    Serial Numbers

Jeff, now that I look at it again and think on it a minute, you are likely right. Oh well, my bike is not the oldest of the old. It is still a survivor though. How about I go with my own age? Birthdate: Nov.9,33. Turn the big 70 this fall. Still trucking in a very spirted manner.
I'm off and running in the am. Good night.

Ken, is Ratbyk an original Canadian bike? If so, a bit of reading between the lines on the serial nr page will show that Canadian bikes had similar serial nr's to US bikes, but with a 1 as the first digit after the XXX-

I'm thinking yours is the 220th Canadian XS...
