There is a thread over in the members lounge by XS11LOVER he put a solo seat on his XS, had to do some fabrication for the mounting tongue, and bolted to the fender. The seat came from an EBAY search for motocycle seats, Lots of choices as they are mostly generic. Best of luck.

      Hi 1sttime,
check out the sprung solo seat on this Ariel:-
      http://www.cybermotorcycle.com/galle...0cc_V-twin.htm
OK, you'd have to build the pantograph seat spring mechanism yourself
but I'm sure that a leather solo seat can be got from a chopper catalog.

xs11lover has a sportster solo seat on his xs and it looks amazing . another possible option is a seat from a kawasaki police bike , it would need some modifying but the kz1000 has a similar frame so it shouldn't be too complicated .

here is the thread with the sportster solo seat .

Wasn't there a police version of the XS down under? Maybe someone can find the saddle from one of those?

It was the 5H4 version, in '82. Evidently, they made them special just for that purpose.

Anyone know what they did to beef up the electrical system on those? I can just imagine all the lights and such running with the bike at idle behind a car....plus add in the power for radios and such....

That may be why they were only ever used in Queensland, Autralia. Nowhere else in the world used the XS as a Police bike.

Harley solo seats are a dime a dozen on ebay. I like to grab the $10 to $20 ones and play. Pull back the front of the cover. Cut a two or three inch strip off the front of the plastic seat pan ( I used a dremel) and mount a bar to fit your frame hole. seal it back up and your done. The Harley rear mount can screw into your fender and hold the back of the seat down. BE CAREFUL, it's easy to pucker your fender. I made my kid sit on the seat while I drilled the fender and screwed it down. Some of them have threaded holes in the bottom(see pic, those holes are right in front of the cross bar.) you can bolt to the cross bar of your frame with u clips, like the ones that hold highway pegs to crash bars.. Does that help?
Notice this won't work for everyone, both bikes have the fenders slid front.

                              Build your own

I mocked up a cardboard model of the solo seat I wanted. Then I tarped the ENTIRE bike so that I wouldn't muss it up, taped the cardboard seat over the covered frame and made a fiberglass seatpan using six layers of fiber mat and two fiber weave layers.

If I had it to do over again, I would have slipped some steel/aluminum reinforcements in between the fiber.

I then glued a few layers of carpet foam and a top layer of HD exercise mat on top of that and spray glued my black vynil over that.

It was my first seat and is not super comfortable, but it is ridable, looks good and was quick and cheap. I can make a ton of these for the what a shop would charge.

There are pictures on my blog.
