According to your signature, your bikes are 80-81. Do you have the early style carbs on them now? Those mains are waaaay too large for the later type carbs, aren't they?

not sure...read thru the "carb jetting" stuff and all the formulas claim that should be good.... The 125's seem a bit lean (plug color)

Carbs are later models...not the early style.....

Ok, if you have 125's now, going to 140's would be 6 sizes larger. They go up in 2.5 increments. Your float level might be too low, JAT.

ill have to check that out....

i was just going by the thread about... increasing jet sizes based on certain mods...

stock was blah blah blah...pods you add so many, 4 into 1 you add so many. based on those numbers, you increase pilots and mains....
            From 125 you have 130 135 and 140....3 sizes

i had 125's laying around for some reason....110's were the stockers. I am relatively new to the whole "carb tuning" so i will be sure to check it out (float height) and also plug color....12 bucks for a set....if tooooooo rich, i will try 130's and see what happens....

I think that thread causes a lot of confusion....

Stock size is 110's, according to you.
              +2 for a 4 to 1 exhaust
              +3 for pods
= +5 sizes, now if you keep reading it says subtract 1 = +4 sizes.
Also if you keep reading it says +1 pilot for each 3 main, so you may need to +1 pilot jets as well.

              110 + 4 * (2.5) = 120 mains.

              From 125 you have 130 135 and 140....3 sizes
              Actually you have 125 ->127.5 -> 130 -> 132.5 -> 135 -> 137.5 -> 140 = 6 sizes, the increments are 2.5.

And remember those recommendations are just a starting point, you'll have to tune up and down according to your plugs and how it actually rides.

                what I have

I run pods on the 78 with fj carbs but they are jetted like late model xs carbs, I think 120 mains like they said above floats may be the issue , what is your float height

I'm glad you said that, I was looking at mains the other day and wasn't sure if the sizes I was viewing were up 1 size or 2 or 3. Increments of 2.5, helpful.

Tomrodgers, My stock main jet is 140, not sure if it helps, but that's what's in my book and on the bike. Of course you have an H, I have an LG, not sure of all the differences. Did you ever chop test it with the 125s to see if it was burning right?
