Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. Was also at a coworker's family funeral today.
I remember helping a fellow with an XJ to fix his flashers, the OEM flasher had died. We tried a standard 2 prong flasher, but it didn't work no matter which way I plugged it into the plug. Turns out, the XJ's wires and flasher were setup differently, and so I had to swap the middle wire with one of the side wires in the plug, and THEN the 2 prong flasher would work.
So...glad to hear that your OEM bulbs are much brighter now, but if you want to experiment with the LEDs again, remember to swap the middle wire in the plug, and then the 2 prong will work!
