    Yard Dogg, using steel wool isn't a good idea; this can embed bits of steel in the aluminum bore and gives rust an easy place to start, starting the 'it's going bad!' process all over again...

      I've been doing it for years. You've got to make sure to clean the heck out of it when your done, but that's the idea anyway right? I'll clean it with hot soapy water, dry it completely, then rinse it out again with brake fluid right before install.
