OH BOY.....Seem like this has come up several times... Tygon is the $hit.....but you can get ALLLLL kinds off of ebay or any parts store...solid colors, transparent colors....its a personal choice really. you can even get stainless steel lines if you like. Some prefer to have line that you can SEE the fuel moving thru to make sure its there.... Just do yourself a favor, and purchase a decent set of in-line filters. Meaning DO IT cuz it doesnt take much to make your carbs have indigestion!!!

Well, at the risk of getting a barrage of comments, I just use plain old reinforced black automotive fuel line. Granted, it is not pretty blue or yellow and you cant see the fuel in the line but then, its cheap, works well, is not to worried about UV, doesnt get brittle and last for about 5 years or more before it gets ratty and needs to be changed.

When I first got my bike, the fuel lines were old and didn't want to stay attached without a clamp on them. I went the cheap route and got the standard auto fuel line from Advance Auto Parts. It seemed to work great for about ONE SUMMER! After that, the lining started to crumble every time I disconnected the line from either end. It probably would have been fine on a cage, where you intall it and NEVER move it, but when you're taking the tank on and off, adjusting carbs, etc., that black stuff just doesn't cut it!

I went to O'Reilly, and spent $25 on 10 feet of Tygon line. It's supple, transluscent yellow, and it stays without needing clamps (though I did install them just to be on the safe side). I recommend the Tygon over the black stuff any day!

Now that O'Reilly has bought out Schucks over here, maybe they can get me some tygon line. I keep having to buy gas line out of the lawn mower section. It works okay though I guess. It doesn't get brittle right away and seems to be holding up fine. It probably won't last over a year.

I've got to agree with TADracer - I too have had good luck with regular automotive fuel line. Never had a problem with it crumbling, but then again I always run line filters. Speaking of which, regardless of the kind of line used, in-line filters provide excellent prophylaxis for the fuel system, so don't forget the carb-condoms .

Nope. That's about right. I paid just over $2 usd/foot. Expensive stuff, but worth it, IMO. Maybe just do one bike at a time. I bought 10 feet, and replaced every piece (I have the Octy too), and have about 3 feet left over. You might not need quite that much.

I talked with engineering at Tygon. They told me that my C-4040A was getting hard because the plasticizers were leaching out. I ask what tubing can I get that does not have plasticizers in it. Their response was C-210-A.
I ordered 25 feet from www.smallparts.com. Cost was $32.00 to me in Houston, TX. The tubing is clear and thin walled. It will crimp with a sharp bend. I will let you know if it works well.

                      3 ft. for 5 bucks...

I just bought some fuel line at Oreiley's here in Nashville. It was translucent yellow and it is awesome stuff...so I am guessing it is what y'all call "tygon" haha. I believe it was 1.60 or 1.70 a foot.

Now if I could just get the floats to close...

I used the MotionPro Blue fuel line. Not to bad. I ordered it from dennis kirk awhile back. Does seem to get a little stiff over time.. about 2 years now.

Hey Mo: Thats what I got on my bike & the price you stated is about right. You can just buy it by the foot length. It is the cat's azz, you don't even need nylon ties to hold it on & it stays limp & you can undo it & it will seal back up just as originally. I've had it on for about a year now & god knows how many times its been taken apart & put back on with all my past carb cleanings etc & motor job & jsut took it off again for my petcock rebuild. Its worth the $$ & you really don't need that many feet if you measure it out. See ya in June at the boat - Dan

                              Lawn Mower Repair Shop

                              Hi Mo,

I can't be absolutely certain that this is "Tygon" line:

But I do know that it was available and cheap at my local lawnmower repair shop. They use it instead of the opaque black stuff. Seems like good fuel line is a common interest whether its for an XS or for the Briggs+Stratton.

I don't remember Cringing when they told me the price. In fact I bought 10 feet of it and walked out the door.

Did use the credit card though. Maybe would'a felt different if I had to actually count out the individual bills. I dunno.
