Hey whad'ya know, it works! Works good too, forgot to turn them on and started to spit and sputter, not quite use to it yet. BTW just a few file strokes on the end of the lever arm will make it clear the tank. Thanks again for the great idea!

You don't even really have to mess with the diaphragms at all. Just pull the chrome plate (2 screws) and grind that stopped of at the 12 o'clock position and put it back on, done...'79 XS11 F

can I do this with fuel in the tank?
With a "low" tank, you can pull it off the bike, put the back up on blocks so the fuel is towards the front of the tank, and do it. You really need the tank empty or almost empty to do it easily and safely.Ray Matteis

omg!!! I am so glad I waited for a response. I almost went ahead and did this with a full tank of gas because surely,
