  • final gear case grease - moly paste?

The manual says just use lithium base grease. But other shaft drive motorcycles such as Goldwing or BMW bikes specifically require use of solid moly(molybdenum disulfide) paste. Has anybody been using moly paste instead of lithium grease? I kind of feel it is safer to use the moly paste as it is designed to lubricate even when the grease/paste dries out. Could there be any harm using it instead of the lithium grease?

Sharing of any thought or experience would be appreciated.

True enough Fred...........till nowhere fills over the years and somewhat seperates allowing some lube to seep in amongst the splines.........hey, JAT.

Moly paste will adheres to the gears better/longer but any good bearing grease or a moly grease is fine with regular maintenance . If you can afford to use moly paste use it but you can probably buy 5 tubes of bearing or moly grease for the price of 8oz's of moly paste.

Thank you for your replies. Sounds like that final drive lube is not a weak spot at alll. I wont worry too much about using the moly paste then.
