my question is this. will this stuff eat up throttle butterfly seals mixed 2 parts water to 1 part yamalube carb cleaner? i found that it works well onthe carbs, but did not cover the butter fly shafts with it i like the smell of it better than the spray types. just curious about how it reacts with rubber seals.

I have read somewhere around here that this is the one actual "carb cleaner" that will not eat the shaft seals. At least they will be fresh smelling!1980 XS850SG - Sold

yamaha carb cleaner
I'm a factory trained Yamaha tech.No it will not harm the seals.I've used it filling the carbs on the bike and disassembled off the bike.It is the best I've ever seen.It may turn your brass seats, mains, and pilots pink. You'll still have to verify the passages are clear with spray cleaner.

After using any cleaner I generally flush the carbs with water, then hose them down with wd-40. The WD arguably isn't the greatest choice, but as long as you get fuel flowing in short order it'll keep the slides nice and smooth without evaporating/drying in your jets.

Yamaha Carb Cleaner
Greetings,
Great stuff! I have used it in the past. But beware, the formulation has changed. I have not tried the new stuff yet. check this link: http://www.randakks.com/TechTip1.htmLuckyEddie

carb cleaner
HI,
There is an indication that the cleaner has changed formulation, on the above rankaaks link, it appears that there may be two types of cleaner available, one that mixes with gas, and one that mixes with water. Yamahaman, can you elucidate on this please. ThanksBikes Now.
