I bought a pair of the rectangle mirrors for my XJ after it fell over and broke one. They LOOK really close to OEM... but they aren't nearly as well made or heavy duty. The lock nut is smaller, the stem is thinner, and the actual mirror head is not a good solid piece. It's a lot thinner metal on it and the glass actually vibrates a bit in the unit... blurring your rear view while riding. I doubt it weighs half of what the OEM mirror weighs. But hey... they look decent and work really well when the bike isn't running.

Well, I got a set of round special turn signals from Mikes because I had read that PNM weren't good quality metal....just plastic. Well, the MikesXS ones were ALSO Plastic housings! I still haven't put them on yet, because I have to degut the sockets to put in my special LED conversions to them.

I've also gotten the rectangular MikesXs mirrors, and they are decent quality IMHO, can see fairly well...mine don't seem to vibrate much...again YMMV!?

Another way is to get someone to do some fancy machining on the adapters to offset the look.

Yes but I had these... The came on the 80 Special that turned into the Mongrel. They were to keep the bars from whacking the Vetter fairing. I ran them with low bars for a while even with the fairing but the combo never worked.

Anyway these are the best mirrors I've found yet and the do a pretty good job of clearing my wide shoulders. The wide flat track bars help put the mirrors out there a ways too...

Thanks for all the input! You've saved me some money!!

It's looking like my best choice may be the Harley mirrors (with suitable mods to fit), as I know these are quality units (if they were cheesy, they'd break off from the vibration pretty quick!). They're only about $40 a pair for new if that's what it gets to.

And as to the turn signals, installing the socket/wiring from a dead pair of OEM fronts into my existing rear housings looks to be the fix there. Anybody got a 'cosmetically challenged' front set with good sockets/wiring they'd like to part with?
