I basically give it the annual bath. Wash it once a year whether it needs it or not.
Really, I do wash a little more than that (2 or 3 times a year, wouldn't want to look like a hardly guy with it too clean now would I?).
But spring is time to swap out the engine. Since it looks like I'm going to do it again this year (this time really more for looks, gonna look good with that black engine with the polished chrome looking fin edges).
Basic maintenance is the key thought, and since I ride all year round, there is no particular time that I do that stuff.
Just keep the fluids up, and add more when they get low (hey, it works for the gas tank, why not the crankcase and stuff?) No, really, every 3k or a little less for the oil, and once a year for all the rest, and fully bleed the brakes when the pads wear out. As for the gas tank, I drain that at least once a week anyways, so why limit myself to once a year?
