In case any of you are using the MikesXS fuel filters, P/N 20-0013, the two I put on about a week ago both started leaking. Can't really tell where they were leaking from, but after checking with vacuum, they don't hold. My theory is that Mike is trying to burn up all our 11's.

I tried those and the one leaked from brand new. The second one made it about 50 miles then it leaked. It was not worth contacting Mikes about for the couple of bucks they cost, but I am not getting any more. Thought maybe it was just mine that were not good.2-79 XS1100 SF

I had a couple, put one on my riding lawnmower, it lasted about 30 min then dumped fuel all over. Looked just like those pictured when I took it off. I was d**m lucky it didn't go up in flames. I thought I just had it too close to the head, guess not...Guy

It might be worth contacting mikes xs, because it sounds like this could be real problem if a bike was to catch fire because of this filter, thanks for the warning1979 xs1100 f

I also put a couple of those on, with the same result. Mine leaked at the hose connections. As you can see from the photos, these filters can't take heat, and they deform very quickly.
I put hose clips on them and they have been holding.Try and put them in a spot where the hose is straight (if you can find one!)Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

I installed a pair of them a few years ago, far enough away from the engine so that heat didn't play a factor. Then one started to leak, and it had been rubbing against one of the bolt heads on a hose clamp, so thought that was the cause/reason for the leak, not any manufacturing defect!?
However, with the number of folks posting about them acting defectively, I would think/hope that MikesXS would like to know about a product problem, no matter what kind of bike it was on!

That's what crapped on a moped I had years ago when I ran some "gasohol". Could they be giving up because of the gas? Not that it matters but I am wondering if someone dumped a bunch of old stock on Mike??RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs

I have used those cheap in line filters found on lawn mowers and have never had an issue. I do alot of small engine repair so I always have some around. Thanks for the warning about those from Mikesxs. I will avoid them. They remind me of those glass inline filters with the replacable cartridge used on 3/8 and 1/2" fuel line. I had a 1971 Firebird with a 400 big block I built. I like the way those glass ones looked but I always had problems with them leaking (could have been the fact I had a Holley blue pump feeding a hog holley 850 double pump y'all reckon).Rev.Rick
