    Really stiff clutch lever

    Just got this 1980 xs1100. Seems clutch lever is very stiff. Any suggestions?

    but first I would make sure that the cable is lubed. HTH

      Disconnect the cable at both ends and make sure it moves freely and easily. If it doesn't, oil it and try again. There really isn't much in your clutch mechanism that would make it stiff, other than the springs or the cable. It might have heavy duty springs, which can be a workout.

          Hi roll and welcome,
          first make sure the clutch cable is free-moving and properly lubricated. Then check how the cable has been run, from the lever all the way to the clutch housing. Every tight bend in the cable makes it stiffer to pull. I cut my clutch operating force in half by removing the cable from it's normal position under the tank and running it in a single free swoop from the lever to the clutch housing.
          Admittedly it don't look tidy run that way but it's a lot easier on the wrist.
