Ok, so I'm trying to get the clutch apart but I can't get the nut off because the whole assembly turns. I've tried clamping the outside plates but then the whole engine turns over. What's the trick to getting this thing off?

Air impact wrench will take that bad boy right off. The other way to do it is to put it in gear and have someone hold the rear brake on while you do it, or use a two by four in the rear wheel with it in gear, just don't try this on the side stand, or you might find it laying on it's side.
I found the impact wrench to be the easiest and fastest way. One quick zap and it was off.Cy

Same way I put 'em on. Get your ratchet on it, then hit the handle with a rubber hammer hard.. that has always broke them loose for me when I didn't have an impact.

IF you use an impact to tighten your nut---be carefull---I pulled one apart that someone used impact on & stripped the nut! Use a torque wrench!!Comment
