Was just wondering if any XSives have recently done the big bore kit.

Anyone know if they are still on the shelf at ProFlo?

Hey Ben, I got mine around Feb. I think. ProFlo still had them then. Since then the 1176 kit has been put in my bike. I'm at around 3000 miles I think. Still haven't dynoed though because the head has to come back off again(valve guides). I can tell you that it's a difference you can feel. Some time this year I hope to get it on a chart, but you know how these things go.

I just completed my Big Bore Project a few weeks ago, and I'm still in the 500 mile break in period. I opted for the Wiseco 1179cc kit. I bought it from an indy shop and he only charged me $350. $150 for the machine work on the cylinders. New cam chain while I was right there, and while I was at it, new clutch and springs. Undercutting of first and second gears in the trans to keep all the new found power from just bouncing around inside the crankcase. Throw in a complete gasket set, and 4 cans of VHT Hi Temp engine paint, and we're at $800! I have seen a noticable difference, but haven't twisted it up too hard yet. I gotta get that 500 mile break in period out of the way. My milage dropped by 3-4 mpg. It starts great. No choke, and maybe 3 revolutions of the engine, and she's running...smoothly. No warm up time needed. I drop into gear and go. It does tend to run a little hotter than before, but I have an oil cooler installed, to hopefully counteract the extra heat.

          Find this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The guy who built this bike could tell you anything you want to know about going fast on an XS11, i'am sure. I found this picture on the XS1100.com web site last year, and have been trying to find out who built it every sense. We need to find someone who can speak german, to go to this web site and track him down. Man would I love to talk to this guy.

I know some other fellas that know about fast XS11s too - Merriam cycles.

John, will you keep me posted when you do crack her open. Please be descriptive.

Do you want to msg me about where you got your kit/work done? Maybe I would save going that route..

Ben, I don't know if he'll sell me another kit at that price, He took a beating on shipping cost because Wiseco doesn't sell it as a complete kit any more. The pistons came from one location, and the head gasket from another, and when it was all said and done, he only made $15 on the deal. But, if you are serious, I'll ask. If you want to ship the cylinders here, and back, that may cost more that what you would be saving by having it done here, vs a shop in your area.

I can concur on the gas milage John. I only get about 30-33 cruising at 75 all the way. That was with a windshield and passenger though. I'm running a stage one jet kit with 124 mains, and a drilled airbox, with a Mac 4-1. I want to guess I'm pulling around 120hp, just by the way it feels. I have a 130mph rated Metzler in the rear, and I can break it loose most anywhere with just a good crank in 1st. or 2nd. I couldn't do that before. Better torque across the range. It grunts out of a stoplight like it's mad at me for taking it easy. I can sacrifice a little milage for alot better perf. Wouldn't you say? Also, to be a bit more descriptive, I can hear every cylinder fire at low rpm(accelerating in gear), as opposed to just a whirr of harmony. Largely due to the 11.5-1 comp. ratio of the weisco kit, I believe.
