Personally I would take the best looking rack...

Personally, I would vote for the girlfriend of Florida's quarterback Tim Tebow. He won the Heisman Trophy. If you figure out a way to get a rack like this on the bike... .could you let me know?

You know we had an old Caidence in the military (little song they sing as you march, that had something to do with a yellow bird and luring it in with a piece of bread then smashing its head...we had a lady that added a line to the end that stated "the moral of the story is clear...if you want to get head..you gotta have bread". The bids head of course......ahem....Seems like a similar circumstance here.

Great man, now it sounds like the carbs. If you have another bank of carbs you could swap them out just to see if it makes a difference. Personally I would take the best looking rack and get some kits and do a complete overhaul. I'm running 79 carbs on my 80 special and I had trouble with running rich until I reset the floats to lowest setting within specs, actually just a little lower. Mine are set at 24.5 mm. I think it has to do with the brass floats and the difference in todays fuels.

Watch out for the broken off tips stuck in the carbs from the idle mixture screws also. I had to remove broken tips from all 4 of mine.
Finally got some warmer weather and past the holidays etc.
I went to swap the carb banks as previously posted, but while cleaning them I found that the previous owner had broke the tips off the idle mixture screws (another set for the carb pile). But.....geat news !!!! After making all the adgustments, cleanings etc., the bike was still popping and stumbling at acceleration. I ran the bile from a hanging bottle and hmmmmm. no popping!!!. Got to thinking that Casey (Frankenbike owner and oldest son) mentioned that one of the vacuum tank valves didn't work right, and leaked. So I replaced the tank vacuum valves with new standard valves and Cody (geniousloerts) took it down the road and Whooo Hooo !! The Frankenbike LIVES !!!! And what a beast it is. Runs great, idles silky smooth and accelerates perfectly !!

              Summary....
              3 broken pick-up coil wires ------ Fixed
              #1 & 3 coil out of spec ------ Fixed
              Pick-up coil ------ set to .010
Vacuum tank valves ------ replaced with standard
Idle mix and carb sync ------- lather - rinse - repeat until perfect.
New carb boot gaskets ----- done
New carb boot clamps ---- installed
              New pod filters ------ installed
              Well tuned bike ------- priceless

Thanks everyone, for helping us work out all the bugs and encouraging us until we got to the final cause.
