  • XS650 parts for XS1100

    Hi All,

I came across this website (I think it was MikesXS) but I found a bunch of parts (mainly gear levers, handlebars, and grips, but I wanted t know if I could use those parts on an XS1100? Is that possible?

yes and heaps more, the floationg discs fit the STD 79, the coils are an upgrade on the OME, the switch blocks can be used, just rewire using the 1100 wires and they are the same, some of the wheel bearing kits are the same, plus much more.
I ordered and used many parts from MikesXS on my 79E std when I rebuilt her.
Others have as well, as thats where I got the idea from.

"the switch blocks can be used, just rewire using the 1100 wires and they are the same"

Cool was just going to ask about these. The wiring needs to change because of different connector wiring ?

Saw part # 24-2058 and 24-2060 left and right switch blocks.

Looking ahead just in case I needs them

yes the blocks are the same, make sure that you order the one with the correct buttons, then it is as easy as taking the wiring out and putting in the 1100 wire. It took me about 10 min per block. But if your switch blocks are not damages, clean them up ,paint them , and order the transfers from MikesXS. they have all them all, cheaper than buying the switch blocks. Mine were stripped in the screw threads,

          Sorry for the necrobump

but I have the exact same question as OP. I purchased these grips from mikesxs and the left side fits but the right isn't big enough to fit my 7/8" 1100SF handlebar accessories ... me confused

If those grips don't fit the 11 Special, they won't fit an XS650 either. The bars and the throttle assembly are exactly the same on both bikes.

I'm pretty sure XS650 foot rest covers are correct for the '78 and '79 XS1100 as well. It got a little tougher because Yamaha has dropped the XS1100SF parts catalog.

if you look up the part you need on Partzilla it will usually tell you what other models used the same part, as said a lot of stuff interchanges

                  Hi Blank Slate,
I had dramas fitting a pair of heated grips to my SF.
Solved the fitment problem by filing the ribs off the throttle tube.
(That is the issue you're having??)
Should be the same for all XS11 models, as Marty has stated previously. They're all the same part (originally)

Problem is, the folks at Mike's don't know anything about an XS1100. They do have a lot of parts that fit, that they can't tell you about.

                          Here's one:

                          Clutch Hub Lock Tab

If you try to buy one from Yamaha, you'll find it's NLA.

I received an email from Russ @ Mike's, explaining that he was the new manager, and looked-forward to meeting the needs of the customer. Curious to see what or if anything changes.
