I changed all my bulbs. Thre are no non LEDs on my bike, except the headlight, and it's an HID.

The whole point was to reduce the power consumption. If your bulbs still draw enough to trip your mechanical flasher, you aren't saving anything.

For signal lights, this isn't important, as they are only on for breif periods, but if your park lights draw as much...

I have 10 1157 bulbs on my 80G alone, not counting the other bulbs.

Well I just went and done some experimentaion on my bike which as the new little led's on it front and back. It barley dims with the electronic flasher from the parts store but when I take the old signal and hook it up in paralell with the led front and back work and the flasher clicks. I gues I'll just buy the led signal flasher from one of the specialty stores on the web. I now have a handful of electronic flashers that don't work.

I disagree, not with the purpose, but with the result. The OEM bulbs are 27 watts=2.25 amps ea, 4.5 amps per side, plus the pilot box 8 watt=.75amps, total of 5.25 amps.

My LEDs are .3amps ea, plus pilot of .75 amps; total=1.15amps, a 3.35 amps savings with the signals alone. I am running full LEDs for my tail/brake lights, as well as all of my other gauge lights. My reg/rect and my NON-dimming when I hit the brakes, and my pair of 55 watt Aux lights all enjoy the extra amperage!

As I said, if it's only your signal lights it doesn't matter. Your not really saving anything as the signals are only on for a specific purpose.

Also my 4-way flashers can flash for a long time....

Not meaning to hijack the thread or anything...

But I saw something recently that I thought was pretty cool & thought I'd run it past you guys...

Bohn installed a special type of bulb in the brake light of his Special that is a flasher bulb... but will flash rapidly at first then slows gradually, as an attention getter. Works good, and takes the place of a standard 1157...
only problem is the cost... he said, IIRC - $65!

I'd love to have a flahing setup like that... and talk about super quick & easy... but $65! Wow...

MHO would be that if you feel that bulb will significantly increase the chances of some bonehead in a cage seeing you and not turning you into corn-beef-hash, then $65 is dang cheap.

There are ones on Ebay that 'spin'. They don't actually turn, but the effectlooks like your brake light is spinning.

I've seen the wig wag before and it's 39.00 and has several diffenrent settings
The also have the headlight pulser that pulses your headlight to make you morevisible from the front.

On a different note I just disassembled my electronic flasher from autozone and it is in fact the electro mechanical type. I did however stretch the spring out that makes the flasher contact and it now flashes with leds. This would be fantastic if I didn't order the led flasher from superbrightleds.com last night. I also ordered some bolt lights for my tag and I think I'm going to stick them in the end of my bars for additional turn signals.
