  • Thanks, Elec. "Gremlin" solved

To everyone who took the time to email a possible solution to my elec. problem, it has been solved. I took it down the coast to the Yamaha dealer. The problem was a broken clip in the fuse box [a fusible link took care of that] AND as this was a Venture model, the wiring harness as it went from the bike to the fairing was rubbing on a part of the fairing mount. Where it was it just wasn't noticeable. Over the years it wore through a couple of the wires. The tech found that and fixed the problem. All these years and I had no idea that the rear signal lights were supposed to come on when I turned the key. Oh sure they signaled but they weren't on like the front ones were. Anyway, it's all fixed, the air in the front brakes bled off. And we're having beautiful autumn weather, still plenty of time to ride.
    Thanks again, God bless.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Fuse blocks on older Japanese bikes are a problem area. Since you have already had 1 problem you may want to consider swapping in a newer fuse block to avoid future problems. Use the Search tab at the top of your screen to look for "replacement fuse block" you will see there are several different options, most not expensive.

      Fuse Blocks

Hi Jerry, Thanks for the information, I'll get one and maybe have them change it over for me.
As an "aside" my wife and I had to laugh at your "signature" line - at 68 I no longer have "love handles" I'm calling it "data storage" sounds way better
Hope you're enjoying good riding weather in western Colorado, the east coast of Canada has had an absolutely perfect September so far - bit cool and showery today but I still will have plenty of riding left before our late Fall closes the riding season down. Take care, thanks again.
