I was suprised to find out that no gaskets are used between the carb boots and cylinder head. My boots did have a thin gasket between them when I took them off and the boots are in great shape for a 78 XS1100E, so I suspect the boots are replacement items.
Anyway I've read suggestions to use Ford 2.3L thermostat gaskets if desired, or just use some sealer for insurance.
I've got lots of Yamabond. Anybody know of a problem using it as a boot sealer? If that is a bad idea, what is a good idea?
