  • Seat problem..........

I have a '79 standard and am having problems getting the seat to properly secure. The tongue on the seat pan does not want to stay in the securing slot once it is tightened down. When I sit on it, the front of the seat will slide from side to side. Any way to fix this?

The tongue slides into the front part..."shoe".

On My bike the "shoe" has a piece of rubber which fits inside the metal part.

Is the rubber piece present in your setup?

        Lock it in

Cool! Then if the rubber piece is present then the movement at the front of the seat is likely that the problem is with the tongue.

The tongue is riveted to the bottom of the seat pan. If the rivets are broken or loose this will let the tongue wobble. (repair/replace rivets...)

If the tongue is bent down too low then it will miss locking in to the shoe at the sides and allow the wobble. (bend the tongue UP towards the bottom of the seat pan. Do NOT put the stress from this bending process on the rivets themselves!! DAMHIK!)
