Automatic Tensioners

I put mine in about 400 miles ago, w/out any modifications, and so far so good. In fact it actually quieted the engine down a lot. I had to use the original bolts, instead of the vmax ones, because they are the right length.
BTW - Did it on the centerstand, plugs out, turned engine twice through the C mark then right on it. After installed, we turned the engine, by hand (plugs out), very carefully through four revolutions to make sure there was no binding or potential for bent valves.
Yeah, I know, risky but there should be no prob with this procedure if you take your time and ease everything in and out........ OK, OK
The increase in gonad size when doing this was directly proportional to the pucker factor experienced during the final turning of the engine. Particularly when pushing the starter button.1980G Standard, Restored

Cobia is correct......DON'T use the allen bolts that would go with the Venture self-tensioner! The vventure adjuster on my E is working fine for the last couple of weeks. The XS allen bolts were slightly long. Two washers solved that problem.
Now to sterilize the other venture adjuster and paint it black for the LG.Pat Kelly

I have been using my vmax tensioner for about 6 months or so and it's great!!! Plus no need to modify." She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself. "
