    Hi Redbone,
I checked the Dennis Kirk metric bike catalog.
The MAC system they list (#25681) says it will fit all XS11s from 1978 thru 1981.
So I'd suppose the stock Standard system would bolt onto a Special OK but the longer cans wouldn't give the same look.
Or perhaps the big flat boxes on the crossover (which neither the MAC system nor my own XS11SG system has) may interfere with stuff?
Still, The MACs retail at $322 so if you can get a reasonable Yamaha system for ~$200 it's a deal.
You shouldn't lose your shirt too badly even if they actually don't fit and you have to sell them on.

I know this has been reviewed before, but I know my exhaust says Yamaha on it, and I know my exhaust does nto have those boxes at the crossover. I think it is either a change in 1980 or a Std vs Special thing. I do alos know the Special exhaust was shorter fromt he factory and did not cover the rear wheel bolt. So no need for the "tool" to compress things to get the rear wheel off in an emergency. The Std ran past it.

        Fit??

If you look at my 78E , I have a set of Hookers that were made for a Special. I am pretty sure with a little imagination, one could get these to fit. The seller's handle is XSLOVER and I am wondering if it one of our members??

That is a "Standard" XS1100 exhaust.
            A nice one too.

With the fitment on a special, I think there at least two obstacles that come to mind. The position of the hanger bracket and the flange at the head. The head studs can be changed out to fit the flanges but I think the brackets are gonna' be problematic. If you want a factory system, best to get one for a special.
