  • Dyna Coil Question

Has anyone with a 81 Special tried the 3.0 ohm Dyna Coils?

I have searched the board and I find two answers about the rating of the coils.

    1) on the FAQ says 3.0 ohms for the 81 model

    2) says 2.5 Ohms.

The stock coils Ohm out at about 2.75 Ohms on my meter Dyna List a 2.2 Ohm coil and a 3.0 Ohm coil. Would either of those work?

    TIA

I've got Dyna's address and phone # around here someplace. They have tech specialists. I'll find it and post it.

      Confused as a run-over dog.

I just got off the line with Dyna's tech people. They said to use a 1.5 ohm coil with a resistor. I told them it was an 81 Special and I am given to understand that it's a 2.5 ohm setup. Still the same answer from them 1.5 ????

The problem is I have already purchased the 3.0 ohm coils and I need to know if they will work or burn out the other ignigion componets.

      Does anybody have a clue?

      TIA.

        Dyna Coils

I would suggest you use your 3.0 ohm coils and install a 1.5 ohm resister which would cut you back to the experts recommendations of 1.5.

Would that not them make the total resistance 4.5 ohms?
