First, my post liekwise was not inteded to be hate. I figure he is like me. In fact, I am pretty certain I joined XS11 under a different name and asked what the bike would be worth before I bought mine. Took me about 6 weeks to make the decision to buy it.

As to figuring out a price to get it and make a profit, heck, if it were mine to buy, I'd do the same. I am not the buy something and stick it under glass to appreciate in price kind of person. If I bought it, I'd ride it like I stole it!! Kinda that sliding into heaven used up and spent kinda theory. So, I woul much rather sell something like that to those who would like to have it and hold it and call it their own and pet it and rub it everyday... and take the profit to go out and buy three more used 11s I can fix up and ride the bearings out of. I never do get the issue of all that extra money cause they put gold colored chrome on a few parts and painted the wheels a color I think is ugly and or feminine.

I am rather partial to feminine things when the plumbing goes along with it.

My home computer is down for the count and swmbo has decided that we are
Going to wait till Sept to get a new one but I had to weigh in on this one
So I am pecking away on my iPhone
A few years back there was a new in the crate midnight 11 on eBay. I think it was somewhere around New Jersey
The bidding got up to around ten grand but the reserve wasn't met and it went away never. To be heard from again
DJinNH could back me up on this because I sent him the auction but he's most

The Midnight Maxim was a figment of the 81LH's owners imagination. It was a 750 so that is where that is. I did in fact buy the 81LH and had it running in less than an hour after it was home. The TCI in it was the wrong one . That and a few small items, plugs, wires, and a pick up coil wire were to blame for it not running for the last 9 yrs or so. I did not ever say I knew where one was but that the owne of the 81LH said he knew where there was one. It was not to be however. I will be parting out the 78E that I have now that I have the 81LH. The 78 will take too much work to fix as the lower motor case has been broken. I do have a set of cases but man that is a lot of work to change everything over.

                          Hi Dott1
IF it's not just a cruel joke or a scam.
IF it's a genuine zero miles still-in-the-crate MNS.
IF it's been kept in a nice dry place all these years.
AT THE VERY LEAST it will need new tires battery fluids etc. plus an extremely careful checkover before trying to get it started.
It's been said here, MSRP was $3,500. Average wage has gone up 4.5 times (or the $ has de-valued by that amount, whatever) since 1980 so a fair MSRP should be $15,750 in todays money which is real close to what a new big bike will cost you at the dealers.
OK then, if you are swimming in lard and want to put it in a museum with your name on the donor's card to be famous, be prepared to pony up about $20,000.
But if you just want a really nice MNS to ride, spend $1,500 for a tidy looking used one and another $2,000 to fix it up to perfection.

Got to give my 2 cents worth, if this is a dealer weither it be a small or large town I would think that as many people that know about ebay these days that this is where it will end up, where the numbers are, watch for it on ebay.

Piece of cake and a weekend job if just swapping out bottom cases. The only question would be the bearing matchup for the crank. But.. pull the motor, 34 numbered bolts that you end up with the cases upside down.. take one off and slap the other on.

I don't know what this guy has found, pics would be nice. I do know that some months back I ventured into an old Yammy dealership a ways from home and found an '80 (I think) XS11 sitting way in the back of the showroom. It is not in the crate but it is in showroom condition, has almost no miles on it and it is NOT for sale. Belongs to one of the owners, he says he takes it for a ride once in a while. I told him that if he ever wants to sell it to let me know, he said he would put me on the list of people that want the same. So such things are possible, hope we find out more!

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!
