I've got the Travelcade version, which was made for JC Whitney, got it back in 2000 for my 81SH. It's durable, but not as comfortable as I would have liked it to be. I'm 6'6" tall, and so the bucket shape locks me into position fairly close to the tank. I rarely ride 2 up, and if I had it to do again....my OEM seatpan was all rusted out, but with a good seatpan, there are several options for custom upholstered jobs to redo your OEM, and are about the same price, but you get much better quality foam, design, custom fitting to your deriere even...a search for uphostery or such should reveal several threads with the info.

I have one on my '78 Standard. It was a quick and easy fix. Like TC, I wish it was more comfortable and had a few more inches spaceing between the front and rear seat. I purchased a couple sheep skin covered gell seat pads. This made a major differance to the comfort. At some point I will have a custom seat made. I put a lot of miles on my bike. I believe comfort is everything when addressing the seat issue.

Custom, you tell them your inseam and weight and they tailor it to fit you and pour the foam denisity to match your true weight no cheating or it won't work. This is a single king the king-queen is larger on the rear half.

The bike I have now actually came with that seat. What do I think about it? Well, I haven't really ridden it enough to know either way, but here's my thoughts. It's probably great if you don't need to move around on the seat a whole lot. I personally find it a bit restrictive, especially sliding backwards and forwards.
I have a Standard seat (for the 80 model) coming in the mail, so whenever that shows up I'll be able to compare them better. I'm still not sure if I'm going to hold on to my double-bucket seat or not... I guess we'll see.
I had an upholstery guy do my seat over on my SG.He did a super job and also have a Corbin seat on my ZRX.Every time i go somewhere people always remark about the seats on both bikes.

If a seat is comfortable there is no reason to have to move around on it. These seats are made to order, so if you buy one used that was made for someone else it may not be comfortable to you, unless you are close to the same size and weight.

There is no seat made that if you travel long distance, you won't have to move around on. How about a Goldwing seat? It's a Barcolounger on two wheels. After 800 miles, as with what happened to a friend of mine on his 1800 recently.. his quote was, "I've moved around all over and my azz has run out of good spots!"
Pressure points.. where bones press against flesh or skin and cut off circulation... is a fact of life. You can put someone in a bed that is pure plush.. memory foam mattress and all.. but if you don't move them around every so often, they'll get bed sores.
Some seats are better than others..very few are worse than the XJ's. I start wiggling around after the first 50 miles. But even a great seat... you'll have to move around to get the blood back to the tissues... unless you're tougher than me and just let the thing go numb...

Very true once things go numb there is no control-just imagine how your hands would feel if they were numb you couldn't maintain proper grip.

Even with the best possible seat, a rest stop once in a while is a good thing. I ride my bikes for pleasure. I will stop as needed to keep it that way.
