        1982 xs1100?

was wondering if anyone can tell if these would work with an 80 special

        http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-...item35a4501cc3

they say they are from an 82 midnight special but i thought they only continued the xj in 82

Yes, all the Special forks 79-81 will fit and those look like 80-81 Midnight Special forks. The forks in the ad are not XJ forks for sure.

sweet... the earlier model forks according to the manual takes i believe more fluid than the 80 up models... is this because of the fork itself or the bike

I have had several sets of Special forks and I usually run 225 ML of either 10 or 15 weight fork oil in them, no matter what year.
