I have a 82 750xj parts bike. I want to take the forks off and put them on my 1100xj. It looks like they will bolt right up. Would it be unsafe to do this?

The forks on the smaller bikes are not as strong as those on the 1100 and have smaller brakes. You might be able to use them in a pinch but I wouldn't recomend it.

I know for certain that the XS11 has larger disk brake rotors than the 750 or 850. I'm pretty sure the rest of the brakes are larger also. I think only the disk pads interchage.
I also know for certain that the 920 Virago used 1 XS11 Sepcial front disk and caliper. I find it dificult to believe that the XS750 had more brakes than the XV920.

I didn't think about the master cylinder when I talked about the differences. I would have been surprised if the master cylinder was different. The calipers might be the same, but positioned further from the center of the wheel. When I compared one of my XS11’s to the XS750 my buddy had, the larger rotors couldn’t be missed. I think the XS11 rotors are thicker too. At least I know for certain that the rear one is. When we were changing tires I got a chance to put the rear wheels side by side.
One of my parts bikes came with an 18” XS750 rear wheel on it so I can say with first hand knowledge that the rear wheels will swap out. I doubt there’s room for the wider 17” XS11 wheel on the 750.Hi my name is Tony and I'm a bikeoholic.
