Fuel filter question

After a few incidents involving tearing apart my carbs three times and a can of Seafoam knocking off most of the rust from the inside of my gas tank, I thought it wise to install a few inline fuel filters before I put the carbs back on. Do I need any special type filter for this, or does it just need to fit the fuel lines?

(The reason I ask is that my local Tractor Supply has some small $4 fuel filters I might get, but I figured I'd ask the experts before I do.)

Doesnt' hurt at all to have them, there are threads on here that show them slipped in between the carbs, kinda tight fit, but the smaller the better. Do a search on Fuel Filters...not a lot of room unless you have the air box removed and pod filters, you can use larger ones.

Yep tractor,lawn mower,or motorcycle specific will work.
Guys here have used all kinds.

You can just put a filter on those lines too.

Or you can put the filters between the "T" at the prime and the carbs. Two filters to cover the carbs. Down side, no filter between the tank and the octy...
