I think the rubber provides a vibration isolation form the engine as well to some extent, and also a flexible seal to the carb body.

I'm actually liking where this is heading. (Polished) aluminum carb boots with a rubber seal. Personally I think that'd be pretty sweet. Give that area a little more flash for the not always so great looking carbs. I'm going to be keeping up with this for sure.

I run my head temp sensor for my EFI on the rear most bolt of the valve cover. On moderate days, it sees temps around 220. I imagine it would be a little warmer down by the manifolds. Probably mid to high 200's.

I think we need to start talking about this seriously, possibly in a new thread. Try to get a group order together, and see if any of our members across the pond would be willing to do a re-ship for us.

I'm going to need a set. I'm going to have another bike project ligned up right after this and it's going to need a set. And then it's always nice to have spares for those "just in case" situations.

I'd still like to know the possibilities of an aluminum/steel "custom" carb boot though.

Is there a way to take the rubber area that connects to the head and then fabricate a size specific mm tube with a rubber grommet at the end that will still hold the carbs?

Has anyone ever taken a temperature of the intake side of the engine around the carb boots?

Just with the back of my hand while trying to adjust the idle on a nice toasty warm motor. It is officially a good three cuss words hot more or less... depending on total exposure time to flesh.

I was reading on the uk site,
that some of the aftermarket inlet manifolds being sold arent
of the best quality, not saying these are the ones,
but just thought that id let you know.

Maybe many of the bikes out there are simply rubber boots, but ours are actually steel lined with rubber on both sides.

i'm running a similar set of carb inlet and carb outlets like the TC bros set.
seem to work well.. (on my S1)

same as anything, make sure they seal to the engine.

Usually the price can be negotiated with a group purchase not much but maybe to cover the shipping charges?

It would help if they'd post the weight of just 1 set of carb holders. Then you know how many it's going to take you to hit their requirment. Anyone know how much a set of carb holders weighs? And then know how to convert it to kilos?

That means 44 sets would be just under the 25 kilo limit.
